Needless to say we also have members in national societies including:
Society of Genealogists (SoG). Concentrates on the UK. Their library includes the largest UK collection of parish register copies and Boyd's marriage index, a number of indexes to monumental inscriptions, poll books, trade directories, apprenticeships, pre 1858 wills, professions, etc. etc. and they organise talks and the biannual Family History fairs. The SoG publishes an enormous range of books and guides for family history and journals including Computers in Genealogy. See the Society of Genealogists web site here.
Guild of One-Name Studies. The UK based umberella group for people interested in collecting and studying just one surname (like Tarling for instance!). Produces a Journal, a register of one-name studies, seminars, software and support for one-name studies. See the Guild of One-Name Studies web site here.
