John Tarling

This is the Tarling family history page of John Tarling of Gloucestershire U.K.  I have long been researching the Tarling family history, especially for the Bristol and Gloucestershire (and Wiltshire and Worcestershire) branches.  I have ALL the IGI entries for Tarling in the UK, all Tarlings in the U.K. 1881 census, a collection of U.K. Tarling wills, and I have followed ALL the Gloucestershire side of the Tarlings back to the 1600s and I have collected them together in families.  I specialize in the Gloucestershire and Bristol branch and try to keep records of every single Tarling in Gloucestershire and Bristol (and the adjacent U.K. counties of Worcestershire and Wiltshire).  This is one of my many hobbies and I both send and receive information at no cost, purely for family history research.  I support the new Tarling family history site, and if you have any information or enquiry about Tarlings in the Gloucestershire area please contact me:

Some of my current items of interest (for 2003/4):

I'm always searching for details of all people called Tarling who ever lived in Gloucestershire (or in the adjacent counties of Wiltshire and Worcestershire), please send me any newly discovered or obscure details.  I am delighted that we can now give you the full list of all Tarlings in the 1851 census of Gloucestershire.

I'm trying to trace details of a Richard Tarling who was an early settler in Virginia (USA) in 1636 and so I've started this page on him with help from this site.

Some of you web-heads may have noticed that the new Mormons site lists a manuscript: "Tarling Genealogical records 1577-1884" the main author is R. C. R. Tarling so we thought it only fair to give you a preview, because we have had a look...

Links and recommendations:

The book " A Letter from James" by Mona Anderson MBE (nee Tarling) is about a Tarling family emigrating to New Zealand in 1880 and their progress from then on.  The book is out of print and difficult to get hold of, but you may get a copy from your library (or try Amazon or ABE). Part of the dust cover on the right.  We have added a James Tarling page.

I also work with "The Tarling Family Historical & Research Society" of which the co-ordinator and one of my contacts is: Charles Tarling, 48 General Drive, Paralowie, Adelaide, SA 5108, South Australia.

Many of the rest of my web recommendations are linked into this Tarling family history page, including my good friends on the compilation of researchers after Tarling in Gloucestershire U.K. page.
