The
Tarling family history database and web team is a small all volunteer group
aiming to collect, collate and distribute all details of Tarling family
history worldwide, old and new and with all variants and derivatives to
the name, for free or at as low a cost as possible.
In order
to do this we are asking for help, particularly from anyone who we have
helped. We are already working in a number of areas but we identify
below a number of minor tasks where we can identify a clear benefit for
Tarling family history. If you can help with one of these specific
tasks please let us know; we have set them out so that there may be something
that is part of your own interest, but you can just extend that to recording
all Tarlings...
-
Tarling surname genetic DNA study. See www.tarling.net/dna.html
and the Tarling myfamily.com web site for further details. Brief background: we're looking for any men with a good paternal line in the Tarling or related surname. Would
suit any man with the surame Tarling, anywhere on the planet willing to suck a cotton bud!
- Transcribing R.G.R. Tarling
microfilm for London and Essex. See www.tarling.net/rcrt.html
and the R.C.R. Tarling file on the database contributors web site. Background:
R.C.R. Tarling collected data on London and Essex Tarlings some time ago
and this is available on a microfilm, waiting to be transcribed. Would
suit anyone with an interest in London or Essex Tarling families before
about 1850 who can get to a nearby LDS Family History Centre.
-
Tarling deaths before 1837
in any given area. Background: we have
collected all deaths from civil records and we are going on to the national
Burial Index next, but the IGI records few deaths or burials so for any
given area (one parish even, particularly one of those with many Tarlings
in Essex, Gloucestershire or London & Middlesex) it would be a great
help for someone to go through and list all the Tarling deaths. Would
suit anyone with an interest in Tarling families in any parish before 1837
who could transcribe all Tarling entries from a parish register (in their
local Records Office or via an LDS Family History Centre for instance).
-
Tarling vital records before
1837 NOT in the IGI or NBI. Background: we have
collected all vital records from the IGI and all civil records (and we
are going on to the National Burial Index next), but there are a number
of parishes which are NOT in the IGI. If you are researching one
of these, particularly one with many Tarlings in Essex, Gloucestershire
or London & Middlesex it would be a great help if you could note ALL
the Tarling entries. This would suit anyone
with an interest in Tarling families in any NON-IGI parish before 1837
(researching in their local Records Office for instance).
-
Local area co-ordination.
Background:
we have people actively collating data from some areas but not others,
in particular we would like help with: USA (e.g.
ancestry.com member), Canada (e.g.
inGeneas insider), Essex UK (e.g. Essex
Record Office) to specifically hunt out additional sources for those
areas. Would suit anyone living in USA,
Canada or Essex UK with an interest in Tarling family history.
By the way just a reminder that if you are
sending in any data the following format would make the accurate recording
much easier:
Name, First name, Middle name(s),
surname
Birth, date and place
Death, date and place
Father, First name, Middle name, surname
Mother, First name, middle name, maiden
name
Marriage, date and place
Spouse, First name, middle name, maiden
name
Other data, anything of interest
(career, awards, date of emigration etc.)
Meanwhile we offer you a
few Tarling pages:
Resources
for tracing Tarling family history on the web such as births,
marriages, deaths, census details, personal pages etc.
