General Family History Links

If you haven't already done so, please see the Tarling Family History home page.

Family History and Genealogy links (NOT Tarling specific)

In our first effort at these pages we can do no better than send you to start at the following:

The outstanding site of The UK & Ireland Genealogical Information Service (GENUKI).
They also have a Researching UK and Irish genealogy from abroad page.

The new International Mormon Family Search site is now up and running, but it is still occasionally busy or confused and doesn't have all the same facilities as the full CD database. To search the IGI start here.

The Guild of One-Name Studies in the U.K.

FreeBMD.  Needs your help to provide free internet access to the indexes of births, marriages, and deaths in England and Wales since 1837 (we have already added every single Tarling entry).  Also the corresponding site for parish Registers is getting underway at FreeREG. and now there is also a FreeCEN site for censuses.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commmission site now has a search engine for all Commonwealth deaths during the two world wars.

Rootsweb home page The Internet's Oldest and Largest FREE Genealogy Community.

The Society of Genealogists (UK)

The new UK Governmental Family Records portal including links to the Family Records Centre (FRC), and the The National Archives (previously the Public Records Office)

Old Ordnance Survey maps of the UK are free here

Cyndi's International list (but USA based) of Genealogical sites on the Internet allegedly has over 200,000 links (we didn't count them all)

Helm's International Genealogy Toolbox (mostly USA based)
