POLICE LINKS
The Metropolitan Police web site is useful - for instance their Crime Prevention pages.
We are part of the Croydon Borough Division of the Metropolitan Police: see also the Croydon Borough Police contacts page for further details, including phone numbers and details of local police stations.
The new "Online Notification of Non-Urgent Minor Crime" service.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH  LINKS

Nowadays there are zillions of individual neighbourhood watch websites, however a couple of our favourites are:
Our local neighbours with the most outstanding web site:  Lower Streatham Neighbourhood Watch and Residents Association
The Australian home page of our "sister city" Neighbourhood Watch scheme: Seaford Rise, Adelaide (area 475)
Croydon Borough Neighbourhood Watch Association
The National Neighbourhood & Home Watch in the United Kingdom is centred on north-west England but has a lot of useful information
The Neighbourhood watch Forum links to a whole range of web fora, message boards, chat rooms etc.

CROYDON COUNCIL LINKS (updated 10 Apr 2004)

Croydon Council's site has unfortunately just be rearranged again, but still includes a whole range of helpful pages, including:
BONFIRES. Please see the Croydon PDF Guide to Bonfires, and  for problems or questions contact  020 8760 5483 or E-mail: pollution@croydon.gov.uk
NOISE: see this helpful page which has links to further advice on noise nuisances from alarms, construction noise, barking dogs, parties etc. and complaining about excessive noise.  For further details  phone 020 8760 5483 or E-mail: pollution@croydon.gov.uk
Party-Patrol service operates in conjunction with the police every Saturday night from 11pm to 3am between the months of April and September. To contact the Party Patrol service please phone 020 8686 4433.
See also further details for Car and burglar alarms, Construction noise, etc.
DUMPED or ABANDONED CARS. Do not moan to your spouse, neighbours or your neighbourhood watch: to report an abandoned vehicle just phone 020 8686 6413 or 020 8760 5768 or E-mail parking@croydon.gov.uk or   Click here to report an abandoned vehicle on line on the Croydon Council web site  For untaxed vehicles call the DLVA hotline direct on 0800 0325202.
Fly-tipping and dumped waste. On 10 Apr 2004 it is now no longer clear on Croydon's web site what to do! This Waste Service page lists "fly-tipping / dumped rubbish" but seems to have no link, contact details or further help!  You could try the environmental reporting form here.
Graffiti Removal: Croydon now remove graffiti from private houses within 14 days of it having been reported.  So report it: phone 020 8686 4433, E-mail graffiti@croydon.gov.uk or use this web form to report it.
About Your Area find your street here and it gives you some notes on everything from local councillors to the kerbside recycling schedule.  Unbelievably we are in the Norbury Ward!  Yes I know we live in Upper Norwood and the Croydon Council signposts say Upper Norwood and we used to be Upper Norwood and our postal address is Upper Norwood, but, well many of us did object when they re-fudged the boundaries... (end of rant). So:
Our own Norbury Ward Councillors: Peter Hopson, Shafi Khan and Maggie Mansell
Croydon council's site on Norwood Grove is strong on history but has no pictures at all.

LOCAL LINKS

Norwood Grove Mansion (the White House in Norwood Grove to many of us) is usually open during National Heritage weekend and this unofficial Norwood Grove web site has a couple of pages (with pictures).
The Streatham Society borders us although in Lambeth borough
Also adjacent to us are The Friends of Streatham Common but temporarily we've lost their website!
Ryecroft Road Resident's Association in association with Gibson's Hill Residents Association falls within our watch.
